Anyone have any experience using these reels? Thinking about picking up a 20 levelwind, but no one has them around to check out. It's going to be either the 20 or 30, but I am worried about weight.

Any input would be great! Thanks

I bought a 20 size last summer, was only throwing double 9s with it,too hard to crank the 10s but was a very fast reel and great for burning. The lever to engage the reel came loose,it`s at the sportsmans repair right now, haven`t heard back from them yet,I would buy the 30 size if I were you.I`m waiting to hear back from chuck to see if anything else is wrong with the reel,if nothing else is wrong I might pick the 30 size up.

Was it the fact of the 6.1 retrieve not the gears for dragging 10s?? Is the 20's spool too small for let's say 80lb test braid?

Thanks for the info!!

6.1,not too small for 80lb,I could throw the 10s with it and blow them out of the water if I wanted too,the reel has a loud clicker also.I bought in mid summer and used it hard for a week in vilas county, that lever coming loose makes me think the reel can`t handle a full summer of casting.

I picked up the 30 size at the expo, Its going to be great for burning big blades.

I did pick up a 20 level wind. It is a tank. Should be great for doubles. My only disappointment was the handle, but what an impressive little reel.

I received 2 of the 20 level wind models this morning, I may run over a spot where the ice has receded and give them a toss! They look sweet! I had a Saltiga Surf but wasn't really stoked on it.

I have the 40 and am impressed so far. The only difference between the 20 and 30 is the 30 has a wider spool and holds more line.

I went with the 40 because it was only about 3oz heavier, but pulls in 10+in more line per turn. I also hold the fore-grip with this reel and with the 40 the levelwind doesn't hit my fingers when reeling. Lastly it balances out my 9' Hvy Predator nicely.

Got my 20 level out yesteday for the first time for lure testing and was very impressed. It doesn't like the small lures that we make (too light), but the double 10 and singles worked perfectly. The reel had no problem dragging the double 10's back and it was easy on the hands for palming. Can't wait to get the first fish on it.

I bought a 40 LW a little over a month ago and love it. The large body and manual switch require some getting use to but the extra line pickup and easy cranking more than make up for the drawbacks.

Hi All, I am new to the site and have been enjoying the read. I am interested in an update on the Diawa Saltist Level wind reels. For those of you that that have been using the reel-- what are your thoughts? Will it work to pull cowgirls and other big baits?
