I don't know how rivers change, having never really fished them for muskies. But, one of my favorite lakes changed drastically on me. Weeds were the same, depth stayed the same, but somehow, the fish just left the area. My other "C" spots, though, t…

That sucks if you have a snagger Brian. With that said, my father-in-law swears the skies moved from his favorite stretch last year, then they started showing up for him suddenly in the fall. Hopefully just natural movement for ya. I hate the though…

Any spot that is pressured will have it's good years and it's bad. I have had money spots that for years I could pick off fish there at will. Then nothing for two seasons. The forage was there the weed growth was good. But nothing in the way of larg…

Well I figured I go try again to see if they may have moved back in or not! I ended up hooking two fish but couldn't keep em' pinned! It was at least good to know that I still had some customers on my milk run though! Brian

Yup, it's called Green Bay! hehehe Tough year for me out there. I got one fish on Labor Day weekend, and that was it for the next 10 outings. Always seemed to be there a day early, or a day late. From what I heard, I'm not the only one that struggle…

I've had spots on my local river "dry up" for me after producing fish for years. They still looked the same just didn't hold fish anymore. Not quite sure why but I do know it's happened to me. One area this year I fished over and over again thinking…

Brian- I do not fish rivers either...however if you have multiple rod holders, I would say give both a try. Try a down rod and also try a sucker on a float 15' behind the boat. Like Keith said...suspended fish definetly come up on baits and are not…

Hey Brian. Ive got a great suggestion for fishing suckers under a bobber if you're interrested, It works realy well for us but Im kinda keepn it quiet because most people arent doing it. I plan on putting the whole setup in our line of livebait fishing systems, but the components are still on order. I guarantee you'll like the idea and it will work excellent for the type of fishing you are doing (rivers). Give me a call if you get a min. Id be glad to tell you about it. My # is on my page. Thanks.

This site kicks ass! It's like the facebook of musky fishing.
It looks like Ohio is going to get the best of that low front.

Excellent memory Brian! A little better than mine, not sure why I thought his step dad? Anyway, yeah I caught a mid 30 inch fish on that Bluegill SSR, which I found in that hole on a submerged tree. I also caught a low 40 that day on a suick. My partner was a newbie that day. He is a big walleye guy. Needless to say after the 2nd fish he picked up the big rods! By the way, we went to the spot across from the launch Herb & you said you moved a fish earlier that day & moved it again.....lazily. Out of curiousity, did you guys connect that day? We had a fish move from the lower brush pile we never got to eat. I think I broke down & shared that with you. Wow, it is a small world! You probably remember I was beginning to lie to you that day when you ask if we had any luck........then realized you were familiar with the water. Sorry about that! Back then that hole was one of only a few I knew well enough to put my boat in. Plus I was always worried about people coming to the WB looking for a wallhanger. With my current boat, I can fish any musky hole from the Bald Eagle to the Mouth pretty much all year. Thanks to you guys my attitude on talking to people changed that day. I'm still secretive about a hot bite from time to time (who isn't), but I definitely see the big picture....the more who care and are educated....the better the fishery will be for everyone.

Got off a bit early from work today, think I might have to hit the C-hole today just because of this conversation. Haven't been there since early July and that was mostly at night. Only been able to get out on weekends & just too much pressure there most of the time during the day. I'll let you know how I make out. Keep in touch!

Actually Herb gave me my first baby loon! Probably about 3 or 4 years back. A friend & I were fishing the c-hole. I caught 2 fish that morning. I had a 40 hp prop on an old 15' Glassstream fiberglass boat at the time (now a 90/65 jet on an 18' Fisher Alum), so we were taking the boat out to switch holes as Herb & I believe his step dad were coming in. Turns out we were swapping holes. Herb was the most polite musky guy I have ever talked to on the river in my area (actually one of the few who has actually talked to me). Prior to that meeting I was a pretty hush up kinda guy myself. Anyway couldn't help but talk muskies with Herb, obviously I'd seen his accomplishments on TV & in print. He asked me if I'd used a topraider yet. I said I had not, but went to Gander to get one & they didn't have hardly any gear. Herb took my friend & I down to the water and gave me a baby loon! Gave my friend a chatter-bait too! Probably caught a dozen fish on that lure before it separated on me this year. I have 4 other topraiders now though!

Yeah a few of those spots in my pictures get pounded but produce year in and year out regardless. Were you once a local in my area?
