This past weekend (June 6th & 7th), my fishing partner, Luke, and I fished the WMT Three Lakes Chain "Badgerland Open". The weather for the weekend was ridiculous, with temperatures in the mid-40's, strong NE winds, and mist on Sunday. We moved a couple of fish on Saturday, but they were way behind the baits and wanted nothing to do with any throwbacks. On Sunday, we were fishing the same areas but switched tactics a bit and it paid off. Luke caught a 35.5" around 8:00 a.m. After registering the fish, we got back out and Luke lost a nice low to mid-40" fish and had another follow shortly after. I went into my box and found the closest bait I could to replicate what he was throwing and about 15 minutes later, it paid off as I boated a 34" musky. Both of the fish hit on the figure 8 and were over deep water.
For only our 2nd tournament together, I would have to say that we were both happy with the results. 10th place was good enough to get our money back for another tournament next weekend.
Congrats to Meyer/Meyer, as they had an impressive triple to win the tournament; as well as to all other teams who placed or simply caught a fish during the tournament. Hopefully, I'll be able to join you guys for more tournaments throughout the season.
